Environmental and Engineering Geophysics

Environmental and Engineering Geophysics covers the monitoring of processes to a depth of 50 m, such as ground water flow, pollution, tunnel boring, and the inference of properties (like the in-situ stress-state), relevant for subsurface engineering. Because of the increasing infrastructural loads and the demand for use of the underground space, as well as the effects of human activities, climate change and natural disasters on the shallow subsurface and the environment, the importance of environmental and engineering geophysics is growing rapidly. We develop novel concepts and efficient methodologies to address this demand.
