André van der Stap

André graduated in civil engineering from TU Delft in 1985 after which he joined Shell International Petroleum Company. He has worked nearly 30 years on a large and diverse number of offshore oil & gas related projects and assets. Initially working as offshore structures engineer, he has held positions as discipline engineer, HSE engineer, project engineer, head of projects, business planner and is currently team leader offshore structures (fixed & floating) and regional discipline head Europe, Middle East &  Africa for Shell Projects & Technology, Rijswijk. He has worked both in The Netherlands, UK and Malaysia.

André combines his Shell job with a part time role in the Offshore Engineering Section as Associate Professor since early 2014 with the intent to teach (parts of) Introduction classes in Offshore Engineering and Bottom Founded Offshore Structures Design and support MSc graduation projects (incl. chairman of graduation committees). Andre’s strength is his experience from industry, thus helping to make a link between theory and practice. André his normal TU Delft presence is Wednesday pm and Friday pm. 

Main interests: focus on technology and project management related to the design and construction of steel offshore structures, structural integrity and asset management, brown field projects, offshore facilities, HSE and Quality.
