Rob Goverde elected as President of the IAROR

Professor Rob Goverde was elected as the President of the International Association of Railway Operations Research (IAROR) at the 9th International Conference on Railway Operations Modelling and Analysis in Beijing (RailBeijing 2021). He succeeds Prof. Dr. Norio Tomii who stepped down after six years as President. 

 

The IAROR is an international association in the field of railway operations research and has currently 400 members worldwide. The IAROR was founded in 2005 during the 1st International Conference on Railway Operations Modelling and Analysis in Delft (RailDelft 2005). The mission of the IAROR is to combine the expertise of academic and professional railway research with the aim of enhancing the quality of service for railway customers; improving the effectiveness and efficiency of capacity management, timetabling, traffic management and automatic train operation; and ensuring the safety of railway operations. The IAROR organizes the biennial International Conference on Railway Operations Modelling and Analysis (ICROMA) to strengthen the international transfer of knowledge and cooperation in railway operations research. The 9th ICROMA took place on 3-7 November 2021 in Beijing with online attendance by the internatonial participants due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
