MSc thesis of Reinier Prins

The increase in quantity and electrification of energy in residential areas pushes the existing distribution network to its limits. A hierarchical control structure is developed to prevent voltage violations in distribution networks using multi-port converters. The multi-port converters combine the usually separate converters of EV, PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) to a single entity. The control structure is capable of preventing and correcting voltage violations in the distribution network in advance and in real-time. Compared to the literature advancements have been made by combining active power control and reactive power control.
