Mini-symposium: 100 Jaar Mythe Maison d’Artiste

06 April 2023 14:00 till 16:00 - Location: Berlage rooms - By: Communicatie BK | Add to my calendar

On April 6, the mini-symposium '100 Jaar Mythe Maison d’Artiste’ takes place.

The Maison d'Artiste was designed by Cor van Eesteren and Theo van Doesburg in 1923 for a De Stijl exhibition in Paris. Widely publicised but never built, the Maison d'Artiste is world-renowned as a revolutionary building design by De Stijl. Second-year students reconstructed the maison's geometry and colour composition in 2002 and engineered and built the large prototype in 2003. In 2022, emeritus professor Mick Eekhout further developed the students' work by working out the buildability in a high-tech way, building 3D printed models and describing them in a book. In 2023, the centenary of the Maison d'Artiste design will be celebrated by a travelling exhibition with seven landings in the Netherlands, with the one at the Faculty of Architecture kicking off.

The mini-symposium includes three lectures moderated by Prof Thijs Asselbergs:
