Portfolio requirements

The portfolio is a required part of the application and is used for determining an applicant's competencies with respect to (most of) the evaluation criteria. Applicants should aim to highlight their competencies in as many expertise areas as possible.

  • A portfolio is a presentation of past design, engineering and/or research work, whether done individually or as a team.
  • A portfolio should present a sample of projects and include details on aims, process and outcomes. 
  • A portfolio should include sketches, concept drawings, prototypes, and any other materials that illustrate how you approached and developed your designs, accompanied with textual explanations.

For projects without a visual component such as scientific investigations, software development, or essay-based projects, please provide a brief (max. 200 words) description of the project.

  • Indicate the title of each project and indicate a date and environment (company, university, personal) of the project.
  • Indicate which role you played in the creation of the work submitted. Is it group or individual work? What was your exact contribution to the project?
  • For each project indicate if the work was performed individually or as part of a team. For team projects, please indicate your unique contribution to the project.
  • Was the work for a class assignment, a professional assignment or something you pursued on your own?
  • The level of the project (year/semester of your study in which the project was carried out)
  • Name of the supervisor of the project

Size of the portfolio

Portfolios should be delivered as a PDF or PowerPoint presentation and may include images, videos and text. 

  • The portfolio should be uploaded in pdf format and not exceed 20 MB.
  • The number of pages should not exceed 30.
  • The size of the pages should not exceed A4
  • Landscape format is preferred.
