Dr. M.R. (Mark) Theunissen

Profile

Mark Theunissen is a lecturer at the Ethics and Philosophy of Technology Department of the Delft University of Technology.

Currently his research focuses on maintenance of technological and cultural artifacts, AI ethics, philosophy of data, and the ethics and epistemology of design and engineering practices.
 
He has received an MSc in mathematics and MA in philosophy from the University of Amsterdam and a PhD in philosophy from the New School of Social Research focused on the philosophy of social science. 
 
In New York, Mark worked for over 5 years as a lecturer at the department of Strategic Design and Management at The New School’s Parsons School of Design, working on topics ranging from leadership and business ethics to design ethics and ethics of data visualization. He also worked (2020-21) as co-curator and lead interactive design for the exhibition space of the Jones Beach Energy and Nature Center in Long Island, New York.
