Profile
Mrinal Roy was born in Assam, India where he got his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from Assam Engineering College (2012-2016). After that he worked in Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG) as an intern for 9 months.
In 2019, he obtained his MSc degree in Environmental Engineering from TU Delft specializing in Environmental Technology. His MSc thesis was on removing arsenic from groundwater by integrating biological oxidation and iron electrocoagulation.
Since 2019, Mrinal has been doing his PhD on arsenic removal from groundwater. Under the supervision of Prof. Luuk Rietveld, Dr. Doris van Halem, and Dr. Case van Genuchten, he is working iron-based techniques to enhance arsenic removal from water meant for drinking purposes. His goal is to improve the arsenic removal by the native groundwater iron, development of sustainable arsenic treatment approaches, and reuse of iron based waste to treat arsenic contaminated water.
