Biography

Shreya Trikannad was born in Mysore, India where she studied Environmental Engineering (BSc) at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering. In 2019 she finished her MSc in Environmental Engineering at TU Delft, specializing in Environmental Technology. Her MSc thesis dealt with removal of enteric pathogens and Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria from secondary treated wastewater using Electrocoagulation for which she received the Gijs Oskam Prize.  In 2019, she started her PhD research in Slow sand filters in the Dunea-Vitens partnership: Sand Filtration project under the supervision of Prof. Jan Peter van der Hoek and Prof. Doris van Halem. Her research focuses on gaining understanding of pathogens and assimiable organic carbon (AOC) removal processes in slow sand filters and developing new concepts for design and operation of next-generation sand filters.
