Z. (Zhuojun) Nan

Z. (Zhuojun) Nan

Profile

Zhuojun's research explores the impact of localised failures on the global response of structures in realistic fire scenarios. She specializes in structural fire coupling using travelling fire models via LS-DYNA/OpenSees, the fire spreading behaviours via full-scale experiments and the application of AI for structural fire safety (e.g., fast prediction of collapses and smart design).

Recently, Zhuojun earned her PhD from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her thesis, titled 'Towards Safer Buildings: An Integrated Approach for Structural Fire Analysis, Design, and Collapse Prediction,' reflects her comprehensive expertise in the field. Before her PhD, Zhuojun worked as a structural fire engineer at Arup for approximately two years. This followed her completion of an MSc in Structural and Fire Safety Engineering at the University of Edinburgh and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Guilin University of Technology.
