How do we deal with our responsibilities towards each other and towards society? It is important to regularly consider this together ánd to take action if necessary. This is why the Delft vision on integrity was written. It has recently been approved by the Executive Board.

De transitie naar duurzame energie is volop aan de gang en zal de komende jaren alleen maar verder versnellen. We gaan massaal van het gas af, duurzame energie wordt goedkoper dan fossiele brandstoffen en onze mobiliteit wordt elektrisch en automatisch. Maar, waar gaan we precies naartoe? De veranderingen die deze transitie teweegbrengt zijn ingrijpend en maken impact op verschillende vlakken, van de manier waarop we samenleven tot de geopolitieke verhoudingen in de wereld. Vreemd genoeg zijn brede visies over deze groene horizon zeldzaam. Hoe ziet een wereld eruit die volledig duurzaam is? Wat gaat er allemaal veranderen? Daniel Scholten, universitair docent gespecialiseerd in geopolitiek in de energietransitie wordt hierover geinterviewd.

Aad Correljé, universitair hoofddocent Economie van Infrastructuren aan de TU Delft, geeft in zijn column aan dat de overheid voor helderheid en coördinatie moet zorgen, willen huishoudens kunnen investeren in de juiste duurzame oplossingen.

Behnam Taebi is appointed as a member of an Expert Group of the OECD Global Science Forum (GSF) on ‘Transdisciplinary Research’. This GSF project, in which Taebi will participate, is designed to promote mutual learning between countries.

The LDE Centre for Frugal Innovations in Africa has received a NIAS Lorentz grant to organise a workshop on “Capturing Frugal Innovation: Towards a Handbook on the Crossroads of Technology, Entrepreneurship and Global Sustainable Development”. The workshop aims to bring together well-known authors that will contribute to a Handbook on Frugal Innovations as well as other key participants in the frugal innovation debate. Frugal innovations aim ‘to do more and better with less’.

TPM researcher Emad Yaghmaei, as part of an EU consortium, managed to obtain 3 million euro Horizon2020 funding for a project proposal called SUPER_MoRRI. Public bodies, research institutes and ever more companies feel the need for better societal integration of research and innovation. But in practice it is often difficult how to measure to what extent policies and processes are socially responsible and which actions can be taken to improve Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). In the newly granted H2020 project, TPM will develop a new set of indicators for RRI monitoring to help overcome this threshold.
