Vision on Teaching and Learning

At education day Hans Hellendoorn (Pro-Vice Rector Magnificus for Joint Education) presented the first draft of the Vision on Teaching & Learning at TU Delft.
H.H.: This vision is centered around scientific and professional development and personal growth of both students and lecturers. Putting more emphasis on typically Delft elements of growth we aim to contribute to proactive, resilient and responsible engineers.

He presented the vision using a front page of a newspaper with headlines about teaching and learning that we hope to see in the year 2030 – they highlight the contours of the vision. Hans makes a call to all lecturers to have a look at the newspaper and the vision and to share their key points and feedback. A digital copy of the newspaper can be accessed here – and the physical one can be seen on the wall of the Teaching Lab.

The vision has been drawn up on behalf of Rob Mudde (Vice-Rector Magnificus/Vice-President Education) who wants to provide direction to the development of teaching and learning at TU Delft in the coming years.

Rob: One of the things that needs to be decided in the near future, is the desired ratio between on campus and online education and the role of blended education and hybrid teaching in our programs. We have a rough idea on how this could look like in the future, to make this more tangible feedback is very welcome.

The vision is a work in progress and will be further developed in the coming months, e.g. in a round of lunch meetings with lecturers at every faculty to talk about it.
Please feel free to look up the latest version of the draft and share your feedback to n.e.thomas@tudelft.nl
