TU Delft campus is brimming with talent in many areas, including sport. In the second round of introductions of this academic year, we get to know three new top-level sportspeople at TU Delft: rugby players Lizelotte d’Engelbronner and Marc Mistou, and hockey player Justen Blok.

Marc Mistou

Marc plays rugby. He plays for the first team of the reigning national champion Rugby Club ’t Gooi and for the Dutch national team. An ongoing shoulder injury has kept him off the pitch for more than a year.

How will you combine study with top-level sport?
"Currently, I’ve had an injury for almost a year. All kinds of complications have developed with this shoulder injury. I spent several weeks in hospital at the start of the academic year. I've decided to do only two of the three modules as I’m still working on recovery. I’ll do more modules again when I’ve fully recovered."

What do you hope to achieve this year in the field of sport?
"My primary aim is to play again. If I succeed, I’ll move straight on to my next goal: performing at the same level as before. In other words, playing for the Rugby Club ’t Gooi first team and the Dutch national squad. For now, I’m just trying to become match fit again as quickly as I can."
