X The primary goal of X TU Delft (X) is to stimulate and facilitate the personal development of the student and his/her connection to the academic community of TU Delft. This means that X is a place on the campus where you can develop in areas that are not always reflected in the academic programme, but which are of inestimable value. X focuses on the needs of young people. The three pillars Products, Systems and Communication jointly make the offer of X possible, which is used by some 15,000 students and staff members annually. Themes that are central to the offering are lifestyle, reflection, sports, games, arts and crafts. Together with students (organisations), teachers and trainers, the variable range of courses, ticket hours, events and projects is designed. In addition, students can initiate their own programming and/or activities and are free to use facilities such as a student kitchen and living room. Catering, Rental & Retail The Catering, Rental & Retail cluster is part of the Products pillar and responsible for the total range of commercial products in the field of catering and rental. You are part of the Catering, Rental & Retail team. This team of ten permanent and thirty flexible employees (often also students) is responsible for location rental and the daily supply of catering products in Cafe X, the Concept Store and Freetown. In addition the cluster is also responsible for external requests related to on-site catering Job description As a Catering Assistant you will join a diverse and international team of highly motivated students and staff members. For this team, we are looking for someone with enthusiasm to put the catering facilities of X on the map. To do so, you ensure that all catering activities run well and that guests feel comfortable. You are responsible for your bar shifts and for the catering of the events during these shifts. You will work closely with your colleagues and, if necessary, you resolve problems independently and adequately. During your shift you welcome and serve guests at the bar, you settle the payments through the cash register, you make sure that all guests receive the right order, you make preparations for shifts and parties and you keep Cafe X, the bar and washing area clean. Further you take care of the right stock at the beginning and end of the shift and take your colleagues into account by making sure that the amount of work is shared equally. You can also be asked to coordinate events, lunches and cocktail parties/receptions at X or elsewhere on campus. The size of these events vary from 20 to 5000 persons attending. The working hours of the shifts during the week are from 08:00 to 17:00 or 17:00 to closing time (approximately 01:30 am). In the weekends, the working hours are from 08:00 to 15:00 or 15:00 to closing time (approximately 23:00). Requirements You are: • a student; • able to operate independently and make your own decisions within the given tasks; • able to work structured and well-organised; • an engaged, flexible, customer-friendly worker and a real team-player; • available for at least one shift per week; during day-time, evening or in the weekends. You have: • a valid European passport or you are able to obtain a valid work permit; • a good command of English and basic command of Dutch; • an open attitude and are very interested in other cultures; • a proactive and customer-oriented approach and excellent problem-solving skills; • affinity with hospitality and catering and acquired experience in the industry. Conditions of employment • You are willing to commit to the Catering, Rental & Retail team for at least 12 months. • You are available for at least 6 hours a week, which can be flexibly arranged. • You are available as of September 1 and also in August for a few half-days (by mutual agreement) for the introduction process. • You will be employed as an on-call worker at TU Delft with an all-inclusive hourly wage of €13,66 gross. • X offers an attractive package of secondary employment benefits such as an X-subscription with fitness supplement, which allows you to make use of a large part of the programme of X.
