Professional education

Collaboration in the area of teaching brings education and professional practice closer together. This not only includes promoting practically oriented teaching for our students, but also teaching for professionals and online courses. Below you can read about what our students and instructors can do for you, as well as how you can contribute to the education of “The Engineer of the Future”.

Online Learning

Online learning offers the opportunity for you to learn when and where you want. TU Delft is offering more and more opportunities for online learning, in the form of MOOCs and online MSc & BSc courses, as well as Professional Education.

Practical assignments for students

We educate our students so that they will become engineers with excellent knowledge and skills and broad employability. For this reason the faculty recognises the great importance of strong links with professional practice. Our study programmes offer various opportunities for students to work on interesting and challenging cases from professional practice. In addition to internships and graduation projects, this also applies to the Design Synthesis Exercise (DSE) or the Join Interdisciplinary Project (JIP).

Visiting lecturers

We regularly invite experts from the business community to the faculty as visiting lecturers to share their practical experience with our students.

Sponsored chair

One of the ways to strengthen the bond between teaching/research and professional practice is the sponsored chair. This form of collaboration has proved very effective for businesses/institutions that are interested in particular expertise within the faculty and that would like to be more closely involved in teaching and research in that field. An example of this is our long-standing, successful collaboration with KLM.
