āFacebook for buildingsā makes searching databases easier
Using current techniques to track down architectural photographs in digital archives can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. But that could all be set to change thanks to a āFacebook tool for buildingsā. Armed with a grant from the Volkswagen Foundation, two post-doctoral researchers will work on the tool's development.

3D printer reproduces church in earthquake zone

A 3D printer is set to make a partial reconstruction of a historic church in Groningenās earthquake zone. Professor Carola Hein and her colleagues Michela Turrin (AE&T) and Juliette Bekkering (TU Eindhoven) have been awarded a 4TU Lighthouse Grant for this pioneering project.

A support tool for climate-responsive design

Solar chimneys, thermal mass and solar heating can strongly reduce the energy consumption of buildings and increase comfort. This is demonstrated in the doctoral research by Remco Looman, who has developed an instrument to help design āclimate-responsiveā buildings.

3D printer used to reproduce Mauritshuis

Can a 3D printer restore a damaged monumental building? Experts from the faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment think that it can. They have been given an NWO grant to experiment with ācloningā buildings. The Mauritshuis in The Hague is the first in line for the experiment.

Light spectacle in front of the Aula

In celebration of the 175th birthday of the TU Delft, students of our faculty designed and build a pavilion that will be shows for exactly 175 days. On Friday 13 Januari the pavilion will be opened during the anniversary celebration at 16:40 in front of the Aula, following a celebration at i.d-Kafee.
