AMS Scientific Conference 2024: ‘Reinventing the City – Blueprints for Messy Cities?’

This year, the conference theme is 'Reinventing the City: Blueprints for messy cities?'

Our growing cities are not only breeding grounds for innovation but also have a global impact on sustainability, resilience, and economic stability. Over the course of three days, you can engage in captivating workshops and thoughtprovoking keynotes. Every day delves into a specific theme:

  1. On day 1 exploration focuses on 'The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly' of cities. The day concludes with a dinner at the Koepelkerk in Amsterdam.
  2. The second day is devoted to discovering 'Amazing Discoveries' in the field of innovation and research.
  3. Finally, the third day is centered around 'We Are the City,' discussing how collective efforts shape the future of cities.

The mornings feature inspiring keynotes from Elin Andersdotter Fabre of UN-Habitat, Carlo Ratti of MIT, Victor Neequaye Kotey from the municipality of Accra, Ghana, Sasha Stolp of the Municipality of Amsterdam, Paul Chatterton of Leeds University, and Paul Behrens of Leiden University will be featured. Additionally, panel discussions will be held with Hannah Prins, Carola Hein, Jasper van Dijk, Claudia Baranzelli, Corinne Vigreux, Erik Versnel, Ria Braaf-Frankel, and Jonas Torrens, providing diverse perspectives on our cities. During engaging workshops, paper presentations, and learning tracks in the afternoons, we delve deeper into innovative solutions and the future of our cities.
