NSK Oriënteringslopen / orientation running

06 April 2024 15:00 till 19:00 - By: Communication | Add to my calendar

Do you like a challenge (while running)? Then participate in the NSK (Dutch Students Championship) orientation run! Run across a number of posts set across the Campus of the university and choose your route yourself. Run about 5 kilometres (or more if you get lost) and see how you place against other students.

Oriënteringslopen (orientation running) is an up and coming sport. Combine running with orienteering and find your own way through the course. At the start you will receive a map of the area in which you will be running. Circles and straight lines on the map will show you the locations you need to run to and in what order. It is up to you to decide on the best route for this.
You will come across places on campus you didn’t know existed and the goal is to try to do all of that as fast as possible.

You may use a compass as an aid. Following other runners is made difficult because participants start at one-minute intervals. Moreover, not everyone runs the same route.

Each year the Championship takes place on a different campus in the Netherlands and this year it’s TU Delft’s turn! You don’t need to be an experienced runner, this championship is for everybody that is up for both a mental and physical challenge.

Orientation running is especially popular in Scandinavia, but growing in popularity in other European countries. More information about orientation running can be found on www.nolb.nl.
