Arno Smets named Educator of the Year

Professor Arno Smets from the Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science (EEMCS) Faculty at TU Delft has been awarded the Educator of the Year title for this faculty. In the award ceremony, winners from various study programs within EEMCS were also announced.

Professor Smets has been widely acclaimed for his exceptional contributions to education and his pioneering work in online learning. As the author of the first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Solar Energy offered by the Extension School, he has played a pivotal role in making quality education accessible to a global audience. His dedication to enriching the learning experience and empowering students has garnered international recognition, including being awarded the inaugural edX Prize.

The EEMCS faculty recognizes outstanding educators each year, and Professor Smets emerged as the faculty winner among a highly esteemed group of nominees.
