Cementing Lifelong Learning: TU Delft Secures Grant
A wonderful recognition of the work of the Extension School and a resounding validation of future plans
We are pleased to announce that TU Delft’s application for the LLO Katalysator grant was successful. This governmental investment overal is earmarked to ensure the sustainability of the economic capacity of the Netherlands (Nationaal Groeifonds), is subdivided into four categories. The particular category for which we submitted this time concerns the funding of the professionalisation of Lifelong Learning within an educational institution (Bouwsteen 3).
Our success in obtaining the almost €2 million requested, highlights the importance of our efforts to ensure that Lifelong Learning is regarded as an essential part of the educational offer of any university.

This is wonderful news to start a promising 2024. We have ambitious plans, and not only is it comforting for them to be validated in such a way, it’s also reassuring to know that we can execute our plans in the timeline that we had envisioned.

Playing to our strengths
The Extension School for Continuing Education is already perfectly positioned to guarantee to the sustainability of Dutch economic capacity as targetted by the government, but it can also contribute globally, with many of its world-class online courses available to anyone with an internet connection. Securing these funds, however, facilitates our agility to be able to tailor educational offering to the ever-changing demands of society, the environment, and the economy. It also allows us to create the necessary framework to obtain accreditations, enabling us to demonstrate and maintain the high-quality Lifelong Learning education at TU Delft.
A core task
Securing this grant underscores the university's dedication to executing Lifelong Learning as an integral part of its strategy and allows us to accelerate activities to anchor it as one of the core tasks of TU Delft. This opportunity enables us to solidify it as an inherent part of life for individuals seeking to maximise their potential on a personal and professional level.
Congratulations
The goverment makes funds available between 2023 and 2026. The TU Delft is one of eight institutions that were successful in the rigorous process to receive the LLO Katalysator grant for large projects, in which each submitted a proposal for an amount between €125.000 and €2.000.000 euros. There was also a category for smaller projects with a budget of between €50.000 and €125.000 euros, in which four applications were awarded the funds. A heartfelt congratulations to all those institutions joining us on the journey to elevate Lifelong Learning.
We also intend to submit a proposal in April 2024 to secure funds in one the other categories (Bouwsteen 2) of investment, which is deals with ensuring The Netherlands finds solutions for the energy transition. We hope to achieve comparrable success in this endeavour.
