Honours Programme CEG
You are a successful student of Civil Engineering or Applied Earth Sciences and above all: you are ambitious. You are looking for ways to get the most out of your studies, you want to deepen your understanding of subjects you find extremely interesting, and moreover, you will get your propaedeutic diploma with good grades. You are aware that in order to achieve this, you will have to work for it and you choose to do so. You like to go off the beaten track. If you recognize yourself in this description, consider to join the Honours Programme BSc-CEG!
Based on the areas of your interest, you can choose to either broaden or to deepen the scope of your studies in the HP Programme. You also have the chance to develop skills that you feel received little attention during the regular programme. Furthermore, you will get to know other ambitious students and you will create your own profile of expertise. You distinguish yourself from other students, and therefore some companies will prefer you over others.
To achieve this you’ll take extra courses and you’ll do research in the second and third year of the BSc. One course is obligatory, the rest of the programme you can compose yourself. This will provide you with an extra 20 EC. The HP programme is on top of the regular BSc programme and you can use it to extend or deepen the regular BSc elements such as the minor and the final BSc product/ project.

Admission
You can take part in the programme if you are selected from the students who obtained the propaedeutic diploma nominally. But even if you haven’t obtained the propaedeutic nominally you can apply if you are very motivated to participate. In the cover letter you should try to convince the committee / program coordinator to allow you to take part in this challenging program.
The HPB CEG program starts in September of the second BSc year. Selection takes place in the first weeks of September. For those who are admitted, there are weekly meetings in the first semester.

Programme
The HPB offers you multiple ways to get the most out of your studies. But it also means that you have to spend extra time on it. Within two years you will obtain an extra 20 EC’s, so that means 4 to 6 hours extra per week during BSc year 2 and 3. The programme expects of you an independent and proactive approach, but you can also count on excellent support from the academic staff.

Within the interdisciplinary part of the Honours Programme Delft you’ll work with honours students from other faculties - and sometimes even from other universities - to broaden your academic and professional skills. By following modules or set up an interfaculty project you should earn at least 5 EC for the interdisciplinary part of your Honours Programme Bachelor. In the interdisciplinary programme the focus will be on communication skills, team working skills and professional/personal skills and you will learn to look at technical and scientific questions from different perspectives. More information on the modules can be found in the online study guide.
When you are interested in doing an interfaculty project, you have to decide what interdisciplinary question you want to address together with students from other studies. You hand in your idea using an application form, which you can send to the interfaculty coordinator. The HP Advisory Board will than (dis)approve your application.

Second year of the bachelor
- The first part of the programme consists of an assignment to map the scientific field, the professional field and your own areas of interest.
Scope: about 5 hours per week for 20 weeks = 100 hours = 4 EC. - Based on your findings from the first part, in the second part of the programme you perform your own project or research study. Additionally you will work out plans for the third year and follow lectures by CEG researchers.
Scope: about 6 hours per week for 25 weeks = 150 hours = 6 EC.
Third year of the bachelor
- Minor: this is part of the regular program, but you can link it to the HP programme. You can choose a self-composed minor at another faculty, university or abroad.
- BSc thesis: this is part of the regular program, through the HP program, you can deepen the BSc thesis by extending your research.
Scope: 10 ECTS. - Third year. Hours spent on module.
Scope: 3 to 4 hours per week for 30 weeks = 100 to 120 hours = 5 EC.

Completion
When you fulfil the requirements below, you will receive an Honours notification on your bachelor's degree and an HPB certificate.
- Finish your bachelor degree within the set period of time.
- Finish your Honours Programme within the set period of time.
The faculty of Civil Engineering & Geosciences offers talented and motivated students the opportunity both to invest more time in their own area of study and to broaden their horizon at the same time. Admission & Application
Students who fulfil the requirements and are interested in the Honours Programme Master can send their application to the programme coordinator together with an essay in English, containing their motivation and a proposal for the programme. The programme has to be approved by a scientific staff member and the programme coordinator.
Requirements:
- Good grades in the first quarter (P1) of your MSc program (average of at least 7.5),
- Proposal for research project, approved by scientific staff member

Programme
The main aim of the Honours Programme Master is to develop talent and initiative. There are different HP programs within CEG, including specific programs for TIL and the interdisciplinary Infrastructure and Environment HP. All MSc Honours Programs consists of 20 EC, with 15 EC focusing on CEG issues and 5 EC focusing on overarching questions on technology and society.
Completion
The Honours Programme Master has to be completed during the course of the student's master's programme.
