PhD writing coaching
All PhD students can book a 30 minute writing coaching session for free. Want to talk to an experienced lecturer on scientific writing? Want to discuss your own text in some detail and find out how you can improve your structuring, paragraphing, referencing, style or maybe the efficiency of your writing process? Then you can use the free individual writing coaching service by the lecturers of the TU Delft Centre for Languages & Academic Skills (ITAV). You can book a session and send us a few pages of your text to illustrate the subjects you want to discuss.
-
The sessions are question directed, which means that your questions determine the content of the session. Also, if relevant, you can send 1 or 2 pages of text to your coach to illustrate your problems and/or questions. This way, we can focus on specific individual issues you might be dealing with.
Maybe your questions require a more structural approach? Our coaches are happy to advise you on relevant courses that you could take. You can also check out our website yourself for courses on ‘how to present scientific information’, ‘writing a dissertation’, or ‘writing a scientific article’.
-
You do not have to prepare much. However, make sure that you know what you want to ask your coach so that you can use your time effectively. You can indicate your questions when you book a session, so that your coach can prepare for this. Also, you may want to send your coach a piece of text (max 2 pages) to illustrate your questions.
-
We offer a hybrid service. Once you have booked a session, you will receive contact information of your coach. This email will also specify whether you can meet online or on campus (or that both options are available to you). On-campus meetings take place at the Centre for Languages and Academic Skills (ITAV) in the TBM building (building 31, Jaffalaan 5).
