Jeroen Kalkman (TU Delft) and Arno van Leenders (Erasmus MC) received a grant of €10K from the Delft Health Initiative for their project on “Pathology in a new light with label-free deep tissue microscopy”. The TU Delft Health Initiative objective is to promote research in the field of Healthcare at Delft University of Technology and they granted 13 out of total 26 applications.

HollandPTC-Varian grants offically awarded

HollandPTC-Varian grants offically awarded

During the official opening of HollandPTC on Friday 30 November, the Varian grants of € 2.700.000 were awarded. ImPhys researcher Frans Vos received € 300.000 for his project on a new methodology for developing biomarkers of radiation-induced toxicity based on advanced MR imaging. Beginning next year we expect to recruit personnel for this project.

The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) has announced which new research programmes may start in the so-called 'Perspective for the Top Sectors' programme. A total of six public-private programmes will receive about 28 million euros. The project is about achieving higher resolution and sensitivity in optical devices.

A pair of glasses that can change color according to any input data

Tomorrow, Thursday November 15th at 21:25 Mike Rijnierse's Sound Shadeswill be broadcasted on NPO TV (Dutch TV) program "Voor de Vorm". Sound Shades is a project developed during his residency at TU-Delft (Crossing Parallels). In collaboration with physicist Aurèle Adam, assistant professor at Optics TU-Delft, Rijnierse is working on pair of glasses that can change color according to any input data. At the moment he is focusing on parameters of sound to conduct the color changes and play with the viewer's perception.

Lauryna Šiaudinytė joined our group as Post-Doc. She will work on "Coherent Fourier scatterometry for reconstruction of subwavelength features of printed nanostructures". Her supervisor is Paul Urbach.

Leo Hoogerbrugge joined our group as PhD student

Leo Hoogerbrugge started 1 November as a PhD student within the Delphi Consortium project. He will focus on the theoretical aspects of the seismic inversion framework that is currently used within Delphi and make extensions to heterogeneous media and including elastic effects. His supervisor is Eric Verschuur.
