The BK-PhD Council acts as a representative of all PhD candidates from the four departments of the faculty of Architecture of TU Delft. It creates a platform for PhD candidates to interact socially and develop their research in an optimal way. We support PhD candidates in their collective affairs. We organise meetings for knowledge sharing and stimulating discussions and collaborations. We hold social events to get to know each other better and work as a community.

We have a position in the Research Council of the Faculty of Architecture and function as a sounding board for Graduate School A+BE where we give feed-back on the educational programme and propose improvements.

The core activities of the BK-Phd Council

Assistance for PhDs in topics related to doctoral education.

Council members have the role to represent the PhD candidates of each department. Furthermore, the PhD representatives are communicational channels, raising the main concerns, topics and ideas of the PhD's in the council.

Meetings between PhD community and A+BE GS.

These meetings have the purpose to offer an open space for dialogue between the PhD community and the Graduate School, promoting  a fruitful conversation related to the main topics concerning the doctoral education and the PhD development.

Communication area.

The PhD council produces a monthly newsletter which contains news about conferences, grant opportunities, call for papers, doctoral education and social activities. The newsletter is sent to the whole PhD community at BK.

Organisation of research related activities.

Annually the PhD council organises a special session within the research week, focused on the diffusion of the PhD’s production, encouraging the debate and the feedback between PhD candidates, academics and researchers.

Social activities.

Part of the council’s role is to build a PhD community, for this reason social activities are organised to create informal meetings between the PhD candidates.
