Opening: BK-Labs

16 February 2024 13:30 till 17:30 - Location: Berlage room (for lectures) & laboratories - By: Communicatie BK | Add to my calendar

At this BK-Labs event, you will have the opportunity to attend lectures on state-of-the-art research, visit the laboratories and talk to researchers about their latest scientific findings.

The event introduces the work and experience of a student who recently graduated with a project involving BK-Labs, a researcher working on state-of-the-art research and a partner collaborating with BK-Labs. Next, researchers will guide you through the different laboratories and answer your questions. An exhibition will showcase the outcomes of BK-Labs research, such as novel sustainable building materials. You will have the possibility to experience Virtual Reality, see a waterjet cutter in action, or explore the potentials of 3D-printing!

About BK Labs

The BK-Labs form a unitary system of laboratories, which has been set up over the last years at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. BK-Labs include, next to the well-known and long standing Model Hall, new laboratories such as the GlassLab, Heritage & Technology Lab, LAMA and Robotic Building Lab, and laboratories that have moved to the Faculty from other locations (SenseLab and Geo-Database Management Center).

The BK-Labs are involved in both education and research, stimulating a lively collaboration between students, academics and public and private partners. Thanks to their set-up, the BK-Labs are able to facilitate novel ideas across several disciplinary fields, from material engineering to architecture design, from Virtual Reality to 3D-printing. BK- Labs aims to address relevant social issues, such as promoting energy saving and improving the sustainability of the built environment.
