IDEE Programme Launch: IDEE teams presenting their pioneering plans for research and innovation in TU Delft Engineering Education
On September 21st, TU Delft's Teaching Academy celebrated a significant milestone with the official launch of the groundbreaking Initiative on Innovation in Delft Engineering Education (IDEE) This momentous occasion followed an earlier kick-off meeting this spring, where 60 enthusiastic scientific staff members from diverse faculties answered the open call to pioneer innovations in education, backed by scientific research.
The launch event signifies the start of the first three teams, which will in the next five years design, investigate, and implement educational innovations. While the programme initially begins with three theme teams, there are ambitious plans to expand to encompass five themes in the coming years.
Academic Director Annoesjka Cabo delivered an inspiring speech to IDEE Team Members from the current three teams: Students taking responsibility for their own learning process, Retention of knowledge and skills, and Future engineering skills. She invited every participant to embrace their role as pioneer and underscored the importance of shared experiences beyond individual projects. Using the analogy of an expedition, she compared innovation to a journey with a known destination but an unknown landscape. Each team and the entire IDEE community collectively navigate this, with collaboration as the key to a successful expedition.
Following the opening remarks, each team presented their project proposals, sharing insights with members of the other teams. Q&A sessions and reflective discussions enriched the event, exchanging ideas and addressing inquiries constructively.
