Coronavirus update: From the new normal, getting back to the old normal

News - 20 September 2021 - Communication

From Saturday 25 September 2021 the 1.5 metre social-distancing restriction will cease to apply and the rules for organising events will be considerably relaxed. Yet we will not be free of all coronavirus-related restrictions. In Cafe X and for events, everyone over 13 years old will need to show a COVID certificate to gain admission and the familiar safety measures will continue to apply. Fortunately, we will be able to increase the number of people allowed in a room and in Freetown the lounge, kitchen and 404 will be open for use, as will the changing rooms, showers and lockers.

1.5 metre social distancing ceases to apply
The government has taken a large step in getting back to the ‘old normal'. The 1.5 metre social-distancing rule ceases to apply. Social distancing has become a familiar concept to all of us. We have got used to it, yet it still feels strange. Although it is no longer a rule, the advice is to continue to maintain social distancing of 1.5 metres. So although it is no longer forbidden, we would really appreciate it if you refrain from dancing the conga in the newly re-opened lounge.

COVID certificate for admission
However, we will be enforcing the COVID certificate requirement for admission to catering facilities and events, where, from Saturday, everyone aged 13 and over will need to show a COVID certificate, and everyone aged 14 and over will also need to show their ID. This means that if you want to enjoy a pizza in Cafe X or attend the lecture by Stine Jensen you will be asked to show your COVID certificate. Without a COVID certificate you will not be allowed into Cafe X or the events. You may however continue to pick up take-away drinks and food from the Concept Store without a COVID certificate.

More people per room
Depending on the ventilation standard per room, we may now further raise the number of people permitted per room. This means the ticket hours and the Open Studio will return to their former conviviality, you can visit the Fitness with more friends again, and you can now ask that trumpet-playing friend to accompany you in the band practice room. As soon as the new series of courses for the second quarter begin in October, the number of participants will also be raised. Sadly, we are unable to raise the numbers at Strength at this time due to limitations in the ventilation capacity, although we hope to be able to increase the number of persons allowed soon.
Besides this, the restriction on indoor spectators now ceases to apply: from now on spectators are welcome to indoor as well as outdoor activities!

Reopening of the lounge, the kitchen and 404
Are you totally fed up with watching Netflix in your room and heating up your soup in your own kitchen? You are warmly welcome once more in the living room, kitchen and 404 in Freetown. Do bear in mind that two of the three kitchen blocks must be booked in advance (as was always the case) and one kitchen block may be used without booking in advance.

Lockers, changing rooms, and showers
All lockers, changing rooms and showers are open for use again. However, you are still advised to bring as few items as possible and should preferably get changed at home before coming to X.
We realise that everyone will experience this relaxation of the rules in their own way. For some people, it can't happen quickly enough, while others may have concerns about safety. With the high rate of vaccinations and the remaining safety measures, we can together ensure that you can participate in our activities safely. However, we will continue to invest in our online range, to meet the needs of everybody as well as possible.
