If you play an instrument and think you would enjoy making music with fellow students, then an orchestra might be a great fit for you. In an orchestra, you are always surrounded by other musical people, you share the same musical passion, and you can learn from each other. Under the guidance of a conductor, you bring a piece of music to life together; good cooperation and communication are essential.

Music associations Krashna Musika and Apollo offer the opportunity to play in an orchestra. In collaboration with X, they provide association training and association activities.

Krashna Musika
The Delft Student Music Society’s Krashna Musika has a symphony orchestra and rehearses weekly on a repertoire of major symphonic works by composers such as Mahler, Prokofiev and Verdi. Krashna plays two concert series every year in which both the orchestra and the choir perform works. The choir is then accompanied by the orchestra (often in a smaller line-up). There is also room for special extra projects, recent examples include Peter and the Wolf with Pepijn Gunneweg and the Symphonic Christmas television production shown by AvroTros. Finally, there is plenty of opportunity at Krashna for socialising and extra activities organised by the members.

D.S.M.G. Apollo
The music association Delftsch Studenten Muziek Gezelschap (DSMG), Apollo, is a classical student orchestra. Apollo is a sub-association of the Delftsch Studenten Corps (D.S.C.). The orchestra consists of an ensemble of 25 individuals, conducted by a professional conductor. Apollo produces and performs classical music, adapted to the current group of individuals and instruments. The rehearsals take place on Mondays, from 20:00 to 22:00. The orchestra has several concerts planned in Delft around the New Year and in the spring. Aside from the musical aspects, the connectedness and harmony of the orchestra in the social sense is an essential part of Apollo. After rehearsal, a drink with the group is often not to be missed.
