News - 02 June 2022 - Communication

4TU.Design United is once again taking part in Dutch Design Week (22-30 October 2022 in Eindhoven) in the form of the Design Research & Innovation (DRIVE) Festival, Up Close & Personal, and a corresponding expo in the Klokgebouw. If you would like to participate and/or contribute, keep reading.

The DRIVE Festival (24 – 28 October 2022)

The Design Research & Innovation (DRIVE) Festival, in collaboration with CLICKNL, presents an applied perspective on design that is aimed at fostering public-private partnerships.

The DRIVE Festival will take place every day from 10:00 – 13:30 in De Effenaar between 24 – 28 October 2022. During the Festival, there will be live shows with four speakers and three adjacent work sessions.

Each day will focus on a different theme:

  • Monday 24 October: Immersive Content
  • Tuesday 25 October: Public Space Design
  • Wednesday 26 October: Circular Design
  • Thursday 27 October: Societal Innovations
  • Friday 28 October: Experiment

The DRIVE Festival – Project Submissions
4TU.Design is calling for research and innovation projects, preferably public-private partnerships, that fit one of the themes mentioned above.

There is also the opportunity to lead a work session, where you can harness the creative power of the audience to energise or further develop a project, have a discussion, or get inspired by new ideas.

Submit your project or proposal for a work session via this link or email your idea to m.k.idema@tudelft.nl. The deadline for submissions is 15 June 2022.

Up Close & Personal (24 – 28 October 2022)

Up Close & Personal focuses on examining contemporary topics in design research using various methods such as debates, hackathons, workshops, and more. This event will take place every day from 15:00 – 18:00 in the Klokgebouw (Eindhoven) between 24 to 28 October 2022.

This year’s event will focus on showcasing, discussing, and otherwise creatively engaging with the following themes:

  • Monday 24 October: More than Human Design
  • Tuesday 25 October: Futuring
  • Wednesday 26 October: The Politics of Design
  • Thursday 27 October: Entanglements with AI
  • Friday 28 October: Neo Craftmanships

Would you like to contribute to this year’s Up Close & Personal? Then submit a description of your project (title, project owner, 100 words, and visual) to m.k.idema@tudelft.nl. The deadline for submissions is 15 June 2022.
