Dutch Research Agenda honours HybridLabs consortium
NWO has announced that 19 consortia will receive funding within the National Research Agenda programme: Research on Routes by Consortia (NWA-ORC). One of these is HybridLabs coordinated by Prof.Dr. Axelle Viré, Full Professor of Floating Wind Energy at TU Delft.

TU Delft participant in EU self-healing batteries project
Researchers Sergio Turteltaub and Santiago Garcia Espallargas of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering are taking part in the new EU project HEALING BAT, which is researching self-healing batteries, also for implementation in the aerospace sector.

Funding NWO Open Technology Programme for John-Alan Pascoe
On June the 29th the board of NWO Domain Applied and Engineering Sciences announced that it is funding seven research projects through the Open Technology Programme. One of them is ‘ Damage Tolerance of Cold Spray Additive Repairs’ (CSAR) by John-Alan Pascoe.

Dean Henri Werij is one of five winners of the Clean Aviation High Five Awards
Henri Werij, Dean of the faculty of Aerospace Engineering, is one of the five winners of the Clean Aviation High Five Awards. This was announced by the Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking research and innovation programme at a ceremony during the Paris Air Show on 20 June 2023.

NWO Open Technology Programme funding for Andrea Sciacchitano
NWO announced today that researcher sports aerodynamics Dr Andrea Sciacchitano will receive funding from the NWO Open Technology Programme for his research project 'Flow for Gold: Quantitative flow visualisations to enhance sports performance'. In total, NWO is funding seven research projects with a total of 5.4 million euros.

Axelle Viré appointed Full Professor of Floating Wind Energy
Dr. Axelle Viré has been appointed Full Professor of Floating Wind Energy. In her new position Prof. Viré will help grow TU Delft’s activities in the field of floating wind energy. An essential field, according to Viré, as “about eighty percent of the offshore wind resource is located in water depths inaccessible for conventional wind turbines.”

NWO Open Technology Programme funding for wind energy research Wei Yu
On 26 April, NWO announced that the research project 'Dynamic yAw Models fOr wiND turbine/farm design (DIAMOND) by wind energy researcher Dr Wei Yu will receive close to € 640.000 funding from the Open Technology Programme. Yu: “I am thrilled and humbled to have been granted this research funding, which represents a crucial opportunity for us to explore new frontiers of wind turbine yaw dynamics. We'll develop dynamic yaw models to mitigate wind turbine wake losses, paving the way for a more sustainable wind energy industry.”

AeroDelft and KLM Partner to Explore Hydrogen in Aviation
AeroDelft, a student team from Delft University of Technology, and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines have announced a partnership to explore hydrogen in aviation. The partnership will support AeroDelft’s Project Phoenix, focused on researching and developing new technologies that can reduce the aviation industry's environmental impact.

An improved dart and TU Delft research hit the bullseye for professional Dutch darts players
A dart that is less sensitive to player errors and is therefore almost 50% more accurate than a conventional dart. TU Delft researchers may have developed a groundbreaking dart that can significantly improve the performance of elite-level darts players.

ESA’s JUICE mission on its way to Jupiter
ESA’s Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE) has successfully been launched with the Ariana 5 rocket from Europe's Spaceport Kourou in French Guiana on Friday 14 April 2023, at 14.14 CEST. On board is the PRIDE experiment: Planetary Radio Interferometry and Doppler Experiment (PRIDE), led by the Joint Institute for VLBI ERIC (JIVE) and Delft University of Technology.
