Scholarships

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) aims to attract the world’s brightest students to its international classrooms. For that reason, it has established several scholarship programmes specifically designed to offer talented and motivated international students the opportunity to pursue a degree at TU Delft.

TU Delft wants to be a breeding ground for cutting-edge technological scientific developments to meet the great societal challenges of our age.

In order to be considered for a scholarship at TU Delft, you must:

  • Apply for a 2-year regular TU Delft’s MSc programme.
  • Comply the requirements for the scholarship programmes
  • Submit the complete MSc application, TOGETHER:

    • With two Reference Letters.
      This is a “must”  requirement for all scholarship programmes mentioned in this page. Moreover, the two reference letters must be submitted according to instructions provided at the section of required documents. Without these letters, there is not option to be considered within the selection procedure.
    • With a SAF (scholarship application form) to be downloaded via the website and ONLY required for the Justus van Effen, Sub-Saharan and TUDelft Excellence programmes. Note that the faculties nominate the students,  therefore you could be considered for more than one programme.
    • By the deadline specified per scholarship programme

Qutech Scholarship

Number of scholarships

QuTech offers up to 6 full scholarships. Two for each roadmap: Fault-tolerant Quantum Computing, Quantum Internet and Networked Computing, and Topological Quantum Computing.

Eligibility

Promising excellent international students, specifically interested in quantum technology, and (conditionally) admitted to one of the 2-year Regular TU Delft’s MSc programmes:

- Applied Physics,

- Computer Science or

- Electrical Engineering

Students can choose a special Scholarship MSc project in the roadmap they choose in their application. When receiving a 9 (90%) or higher for their MSc thesis project, they will be offered a PhD position in the same roadmap.

Extent of Scholarship

A monthly allowance of €1.300 for 11 months of each academic year. Tuition fees are not waived. International travel will be reimbursed once to a maximum of €900, and the costs of the residence permit (€171) will be reimbursed or paid for by Delft University of Technology. The grant for the second year will be given on the condition that sufficient progress is made in the first year and that sufficient results have been achieved.

TU Delft Excellence Scholarship
Number of scholarships 1 for Non-EU/EFTA students, 2 for EU/EFTA students
Eligibility Excellent international applicants conditionally admitted to one of the 2-year Regular TU Delft’s MSc programmes.

With a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 80 percent or higher of the scale maximum in the bachelor’s degree from an internationally renowned university outside The Netherlands.
Application deadline 1 December 2019 (23:59 CET)
Extent of Scholarship €25.000 per year for Non-EU/EFTA students
€12.500 per year for EU/EFTA students

This includes:
  • Full tuition fees per year for a TU Delft MSc programme based on the statutory fee or institutional rate, according to the registered nationality, AND contribution for the living expenses.
  • Membership to the Scholarship club giving access to personal development, workshops, seminars, etc.

Upload two reference letters (in one PDF document), according to required documents

Two reference letters in either English, French, German or Dutch.
These letters must be:
  • from either a previous professor or assistant professor. If you have work experience, one of these letters may be from your employer.
  • written on the official letterhead /have the official stamp of the university or company.
  • signed by the referee and include your complete name
Is your referee hesitant to provide you with the letter? Then he/she can email a scanned PDF of the letter to contactcentre-esa@tudelft.nl. His/her e-mail must include your complete name and TU Delft student number. You will be given this number upon registering in Studielink.
If you choose this option, you must upload a statement under "reference letter" in osiaan.tudelft.nl informing us of this decision. This statement should include the name and e-mail address of your referee.
