Mentor: Sara Colombo, sara.colombo@tudelft.nl

Problem / Issue to investigate: Public’s opinions are often ignored in the development and adoption of AI technology by industry. The project addresses the challenge of tracking and understanding the fast-evolving landscape of AI applications and their associated societal issues, and the need of public involvement in shaping AI's impact on society.

Goal: The project goal is to create online repositories that catalog AI applications and highlight associated societal issues, fostering a better understanding of AI's real-world impacts. Simultaneously, it aims to collect and analyze public feedback on these issues.

Methods: The project will involve the development of online repositories, which categorize AI applications and provide information about their societal implications. It will incorporate features for collecting and analyzing public feedback, such as surveys, comment sections, and discussion forums. A mixed-methods approach will be employed to assess its effectiveness and influence on shaping a collective consciousness.

Impact: The project generates accessible and informative repositories that offer insights into AI practical applications and emerging societal concerns. By gathering and analyzing public feedback, it aims to provide valuable insights for policymakers, researchers, and the general public to navigate the evolving landscape of AI technology.

Relevance: This project addresses the pressing need for transparency and public engagement in the domain of AI. By making information on AI applications and societal issues readily available and soliciting feedback from a wide range of stakeholders, it fosters a more informed, democratic, and accountable AI ecosystem. It ensures that AI development is aligned with the values and concerns of society, ultimately leading to more responsible AI deployment.
