Academic Background

Lianne Simonse teaches Design Roadmapping at the master program on Strategic Product Design. She holds a MSc. and PhD. in innovation management and has combined her academic positions with 20 years of professional experience in industry. Lianne has led several roadmapping projects and worked with different corporate organisations and start-up ventures. 

At the faculty of Industrial Design she has initiated the scientific research programs on: 1. Design roadmapping and 2. Business Model Design for home healthcare with the purpose to contribute to the collective learning and body of knowledge of both scholars and practitioners. 

Lianne has hold positions of project - and program manager at various organisations, including corporate divisions, business units, non-profit organisations and health institutes. Over the years she has built an expert position in design roadmapping and organisation design. She is an invited speaker on these subjects and her publications can be found in both scientific and practitioners journals and books. 

Dr. Simonse has presented papers (including an award winning paper) at design conferences of the Design Society, the Design Management Institute, ServDes, and on management conferences of the Product Development and Management Association, Academy of Management and European Group of Organisational Studies. 

Her scientific work is published in journals such as Design Issues, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of Medical Internet Research, International Journal of Integrated Care and International Journal of Technology Intelligence and Planning. 

Based on this comprehensive work and her industry experiences, she wrote the guidebook on Design roadmapping.
