Internships

It is possible to do an internship as part of your minor. You can do this, for example, as part of the International Entrepreneurship & Development minor or as part of your Vrije minor. Please take a look at these websites.

It is possible to do an internship as part of your TPM master’s programme. On this page, you will find more information about the different kinds of internships and how to find one. Start the process for your internship in time.

Different kinds of internships:

  1. Internships as elective
The first option is to do an internship during your elective courses in the third semester, in a professional environment outside the University, supervised by an external supervisor and a MOT/EPA/CoSEM lecturer.
    - MOT and EPA students are permitted to do an external project instead of the 9/10EC of electives.
    - CoSEM students are permitted to do an external project instead of the 10 EC of track electives.

The rules for an external project (TPM593A) can be found in the Course Guide. You need to find an internship, a TPM supervisor and a supervisor at the external company yourself. Your intended TPM supervisor decides whether your internship is suitable regarding the TPM content. For questions that can not be found in the course guide, contact the Internship Coordinator Juan Duran (J.M.Duran@tudelft.nl).

  2. Internships as part of your graduation
The second option is to graduate at an external company and fulfil your research project at the company. You need to find an internship, a TPM supervisor and a supervisor at the external company yourself. Your graduation agreement has to be signed by the dean of the faculty (see Forms for the model contract). To this end, please send the draft of this contract including all annexes to J.B.J. Groot Kormelink (J.B.J.GrootKormelink@tudelft.nl). In general, this is the only confidentiality agreement that TU Delft is prepared to sign. Any deviations from this model agreement must be approved by the legal department. Note that any deviations to the model contract may lead to delay.

Warning: some companies may ask you to sign a (bilateral) contract with penalty clauses and/or far too restrictive results for publication (non-disclosure agreement/confidentiality). Never sign such an agreement in order to avoid future problems but ask for advice first. For more information, see the Graduation Portal and check the Tips and procedures document for external graduation. If you have additional questions, please contact J.B.J. Groot Kormelink.

  3. Internship without credits
Some companies offer internships without credits (ECTS). TU Delft does not sign contracts if you do not receive study credits for your internship. Most companies who are in contact with Curius, are aware of this. For questions, please contact Curius.

If you want to do an internship abroad, please look at Study Abroad of additional requirements.
