"Running creates a social embedding so that students not only study hard but also have a good time together."

Running...

...is a big necessity for me! That sounds heavy, but I've been running for 40 years. That makes it a "way of life". Without running I don't feel complete. Running encourages me to take good care of my body, my machine. I do this through stretching exercises, frequency of training, a lot of variation in training forms, varied training courses and certainly also healthy eating.

Due to the Corona measures...

...the training sessions of my running crew have been stopped. This has a direct influence because you no longer run in your own training group. It makes you realize that running together is also a social event!

I find it fantastic...

...that I can teach running training to the students of TU Delft. I have seen and experienced myself that running together, stimulates to connect to each other. Running creates a social embedding so that students not only study hard but also have a good time together. Exercising together contributes to this.

This also applies...

...to myself. The contact with all those young people, each with their own story, is stimulating and makes me happy to go to X to give the training and to challenge them. In other words: I miss the contact with the students!

Sometimes...

...I jokingly say that Delft is the running heaven of South Holland! Why? Because there are courses everywhere in Delft that you can walk as a group but also individually! There are also the so-called 100 meter dashes (markings) on many cycle paths. This means you can do interval training almost anywhere.

As a tip...

...I would advise to find a running buddy of your own level. When you make agreements to train together, you will continue to train more easily and will not postpone or cancel as quickly. It is important to start with caution. Take a look at the website of X, there is a schedule there that also includes a part for beginning runners.

Running is a big necessity for me!
