Boxing is an intensity sport in which you use a lot of energy in a short time. During competitions, a round lasts only 2 or 3 minutes. Hand, foot and eye coordination are important, but you are also mentally busy making split-second decisions. Keep watching is important so you can read your opponent and predict what he/she/they are going to do. In an official match, boxers try to score points by hitting each other on the right hit areas. This requires 3 judges who use the '10-points must system' to decide who will be the winner of the match.

The boxing workout starts with a warm-up and a conditioning section. After this, the gloves go on. Here you box in pairs and work on your boxing technique. Every quarter, a lesson package is offered in which the following subjects are covered: basic stance, direct punches, angles, step punch, dodging, diving, uppercut, footwork, stepping through, feints, liver, mild strikes, boxing styles, watching and body & mind. The classes build on each other, although you can join any class without any experience. Training is almost always concluded with sparring to test the techniques just learnt in practice.

Kevin Kok

Kevin teaches boxing since 2019. He teaches all levels, from beginners to competition boxers. Currently he follows the assistant coach course (KSS2) trough the Dutch boxing association, after which he will complete the head coach course. This so he can assist boxers at (and in the future enter them into) competitions. His focus is on creating a fun and safe atmosphere. He would like to make sure that everybody leaves the lesson with more boxing technique and knowledge then when they entered.
