PATO Foundation honoured as remarkable sponsor of Lifelong Learning

In a recent celebratory event, TU Delft acknowledged the great impact made by the PATO Foundation’s sponsorship of online education and its contribution to the development of innovative courses.

The PATO Foundation – which is dedicated to helping engineers worldwide gain new competencies, partenered with the Delft University Fund and the Extension School for Continuing Education in 2015, and since then, has supported the creation of 14 online courses on topics related to great societal challenges, such as the energy transition, sustainable cities, and the future of transportation, among others.

In the fight against climate change, the energy transition is a crucial weapon. The PATO Foundation has contributed to this by making online education available and affordable all over the world.

Helping professionals and students all over the world

The PATO sponsored courses  have had a major impact on diverse groups of learners – from global experts investigating solutions for a number of societal issues, to alumni wishing to remain abreast of recent developments, to the next generation of engineers, including campus students enrolled in  Bachelor and Master’s programs. In addition, by enabling flexible access, the courses greatly contributed to preserving the delivery of quality education during the COVID pandemic.
In particular, by the end of 2022, the courses had reached over 196,000 learners all over the world,  and more than 250 professionals had benefited from courses dedicated to the Economics of Cyber Security and to Advanced Zero-Energy Building Design. Furthermore, hundreds of TU Delft students currently use the online resources provided by the courses as support materials for their studies in Architecture, Urbanism & Building Sciences, and Energy Transition.

Sponsors are pivotal partners

Companies and organisations can play a key role in supporting the development of new learning pathways.
It is thanks to the generosity of foundations like PATO that TU Delft  and its Extension School can offer  many online courses and programs aimed at making knowledge accessible to everyone. This allows the University to support both young and long-standing talents, and to provide expert knowledge and development opportunities that can help our learners make a difference in the world.
