Biografie

Gürhan Özkayar received his B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Biomedical Engineering (with full scholarship) from Baskent University Ankara, Turkey, in 2009 and his M.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Biomedical Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, in 2015.

Following his master studies, he worked at a startup company named as Mikro Biyosistemler Inc. (now Cellsway), Ankara, Turkey, between 2015 and 2019 as an R&D Engineer.

During his PhD studies, he worked on new generation of integrated microfluidic system architecture design concepts having miniaturized peripheral components such as ripple-free micropumps and 3D printed microvalves, and adapting these components to Organ-on-a-chip (OOC) technology.

He is currently working as a Postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering/Faculty of Applied Sciences. His research focuses on design, development, and implementation of microfluidic chips for label-free isolation of heterogeneous Circulating Tumour Cells (CTCs) as a part of a ZonMw project.
