Departure prof. dr. Kornelis Blok

Nieuws - 31 mei 2023

On May 24th, Prof. dr. Kornelis Blok gave his valedictory lecture as he says farewell to working fulltime at the TU Delft. His lecture “Energy Transition: The Need For Speed” reflected on the #energytransition of the past, present, and its potential future. “The main challenge is: how can we accelerate the energy transition? Developments in the field of alternatives to fossil energy sources such as solar and wind energy, electric cars or heat pumps are moving fast, but not fast enough.”

Prof. dr. Kornelis Blok was also a valued member of the TU Delft | Global Initiative, being part of the steering committee and spearheading the Energy Access for All Programme. Throughout his career, he has worked tirelessly to promote #sustainable energy for all, worldwide. In addition to his work at the Global Initiative, he was also active as Chairman for the past 4 years at the Delft Energy Initiative.

Kornelis will remain affiliated with the TU Delft for another 5 years as a guest and will continue to supervise PhD students. In addition, he recently became a member of the Scientific Climate Council of The Netherlands. We want to thank Kornelis for his invaluable contributions to TU Delft | Global Initiative, and wish him good luck in his future!
