Giulia Bacchi, Berend Fischer, Aozhe Liu and Jurriaan van Rijswijk, all SPD Master's students from Industrial Design Engineering, have been awarded the Design Roadmapping award for the best visualised and most daring roadmap.

Design manager of the recently opened Arçelik Design Studio in Amsterdam Tony Weichselbraum handed the award to the team together with Lianne Simonse, master course coordinator of Design roadmapping.

Arçelik, a leading manufacturer in domestic appliance with brands, such as BEKO and Grundig, commissioned the Connected Kitchen project assignment that challenged 24 teams to design a future vision and a roadmap with new digital service propositions. Five Design Roadmapping teams presented their end results to Tony who was joined by Serdal Korkut Avci (Director of Industrial Design), Gizem Durakoğlu (Senior User experience designer) and Baron Tigrel (Senior Industrial designer). The jury took a lot of inspiration for future services in the Kitchen and provided some final feedback.

Next to the awarded team, two other teams were invited to continue their work at Arçelik: the team of Wenhao Li, Ruud Nagtzaam, Carolijn Schrijver, Till Stackmann and Aniek Toet, and the team of Adelaida Gutierrez Aristizabal, Finn Kooijman, Marieke Rietema, Hanchu Sun, Lorenzo Wobben and Zhenja Zheng.

Since 1995, Arçelik is engaged in the production and marketing of consumer durable goods, consumer electronics, small home appliances and kitchen accessories as well as in the provision of after-sales services. The Amsterdam design studio is dedicated to digital service design for the European market.

Thanks to all the teachers that made the Design Roadmapping course possible: Gerd Kortuem, Hanne Lindholt Caspersen, Eva Frese, Bart Bluemink, Deborah Nas and student assistant Lennart Schut.
