TU Delft coordinator and teacher of design drawing and visualisation JanWillem Hoftijzer will speak at this year’s Design Museum Symposium (27 January) in Den Bosch. This year’s theme is ‘Process – Tekenen voor de Toegepaste Kunsten’ (Process - Drawing for the Applied Arts), and was, in part, inspired by one of the Design Museum’s current exhibits – ‘Process: design drawings from the Rijksmuseum’.

‘Design drawing: for imagination and reflection’

JanWillem's talk, 'Design drawing: for imagination and reflection', will examine the communicative and process-supporting role of design drawing (also called 'design sketching')  and discuss the broadening of the discipline and the digitisation of design sketching.

In doing so, he will show the differences between design sketches of the past (like those shown in the exhibit and the book ‘Process, Design Drawings from the Rijksmuseum 1500-1900‘),  and those of today.
