IDE professor presents Healthy Start to Minister of OCW

On Monday, 11 October the Minister of Culture, Science and Education Ingrid van Engelshoven visited the Convergence - a collaboration between TU Delft, Erasmus MC, and Erasmus University Rotterdam. IDE professor Maaike Kleinsmann, alongside her colleagues Eveline Crone (Erasmus University), and Vincent Jaddoe (Erasmus MC), presented their new Convergence flagship project Healthy Start to Minister van Engelshoven.

James Dyson Award – IDE alumnus makes it into global top 20

IPD alum Jerry de Vos’ Plastic Scanner has been selected for the James Dyson Award’s Global Top 20. Jerry’s Plastic Scanner, alongside the other 19 inventions, was chosen from over 2,000 entries. Now that he is in the top 20, he has the chance to become the global winner and receive £30,000 to support the next stages of their inventions.

TU Delft at Dutch Design Week 2021

Dutch Design Week (DDW): it’s one of the highlights of the European design calendar and an event in which IDE design research plays a prominent role together with Design United - the 4TU. Federation’s research centre for design. This year Dutch Design Week will take place between 16-24 October. And after a purely digital Dutch Design Week last year, this autumn Design United is back - live and with plenty of in person events.

IDE assistant professor wins Young Investigator Award

Last week at the Symposium on Solid and Physical Modeling, IDE assistant professor Jun Wu was awarded the Young Investigator Award from the Solid Modeling Association. Jun was recognised for his outstanding technical contributions at the intersection of solid modelling, physical modelling, and advanced manufacturing.

Jose Martínez Castro is IDE’s 7500th graduate!

On Friday (1 October), IDE celebrated its 7500th graduate! It is a milestone that our faculty, staff and students alike, can be proud of. Our dean Ena Voûte, alongside IPD programme director Professor Gert Kortuem, surprised Jose Martínez Castro after his defence. Jose graduated from IPD under Professor Elvin Karana, tenured Assistant Professor Jun Wu, and PhD candidate Alice Buso.
