The department of Design Engineering (DE) focuses on applying responsive technologies on the development and design of new products and services. The dynamics in this field are primarily determined by the pace of change in society, in which new developments in human needs and technological possibilities follow each other rapidly. These include new materials and production techniques, ICT and Internet of Things, healthcare, sustainability and striving towards a circular economy. The department strives to integrate specific technologies in a new, flexible design process.
Within the faculty, the DE department is closely involved in education in the Bachelor's degree programme, in particular in the technology subjects. In addition, the department provides the Integrated Product Design (IPD) Master's programme, together with the Industrial Design (ID) department. The aim is to ensure that education and research are closely interlinked, so that students acquire relevant technological knowledge that will have a great impact on technical design in coming years.
