Exception cum laude regulation

In case the supervisor expects the student to obtain at least 8,5 for the graduation project, he/she will indicate this on the Green Light Form. Next, SPA will check if the weighted average of all results that are part of the exam programme (specialisation/electives/elective package/track electives excepted) is at least 8,0. In that case, SPA will apply for two diplomas (with and without ‘cum laude’).

In case a student believes that he/she is eligible for an exception to the rule, the student can apply for an exception to the cum laude regulation afterwards (after the graduation has been completed).

Exceptions to the cum laude regulations will only be granted very rarely.

Students send an email to the BoE secretary: Examencommissie-TBM@tudelft.nl explaining and describing the situation. The student may include the academic counsellor’s or supervisor’s advice as well.

Next steps:
Student receives a confirmation of receipt from the BoE. Student will also be informed whether or not the application will be attended to.
Depending on the BoE decision, the ‘cum laude’ predicate will be granted, and the student will receive a new diploma.
