"When words fail, music speaks. Music brings people in a certain mood and therefore lets you share a feeling with others, without needing any words."

When I...

...came to Delft, I'd never played in a symphony orchestra before and was eager to join one. I auditioned for Krashna Musika’s orchestra, which became my entrance to the world of symphonic music. You can now find me playing trumpet or singing at X three evenings a week, if not more!

When words fail...

...music speaks. Music brings people in a certain mood and therefore lets you share a feeling with others, without needing any words. It can make you feel relaxed, joyful or can give you a lot of energy. Playing or listening to music as a group has that effect on everyone, which is amazing!

For me, making music...

...is also a way to connect with others. You can reach other people by making music, literally and figuratively. You meet many people by playing in different musical collectives and at almost any place you are, your voice or instrument gives you the chance to join one. Friendships are forged as you play a piece, give a concert or go on tour together.

Some of my goals...

...are to become a better singer and learn to play piano, next to playing trumpet. At X, there is plenty of opportunity to practice in music rooms and take lessons in order to grow as a musician. The diversity of activities at X is immense. If you think about it, it’s quite special that ranging from hockey to salsa and from painting to a classical singing, you can find it all in this one place called X. In this way, you connect to disciplines different from your own, which I think is fun and inspiring.

You can reach other people by making music, literally and figuratively.
