Dr. Delle Monache, S.
Stefano Delle Monache is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Human-centered Design, Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, as well as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow.
Academic Background
Stefano's academic background is rooted in sonic interaction design and focused on the study and design of behaviours mediated by sound, either as a display of processes or as an input medium.
Stefano received his PhD in Science of Design in 2012 from Iuav University of Venice, Italy, with a thesis on post-Bauhaus design approaches to formgiving issues in sonic interaction. His research interests span practices, methods and representations for sound-driven design, evaluation of sound in interaction, and interactive sound models for computational artefacts.
Stefano has been involved in several EU research projects (FP6 NEST Closing the Loop of Sound Evaluation and Design 2006 - 2009, COST Action on Sonic Interaction Design 2007 - 2011, FP7 FET Sketching Audio Technologies using Vocalizations and Gestures 2014 - 2016, Erasmus+ KA2 INTERactive Environment for MUSIC learning and practicing 2017 - 2020). In 2020, Stefano was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship. His funded project, Participatory Designing with Sounds (PaDS, 2020 - 2022), aims at extending knowledge on sound-driven design cognition and developing methods and tools to help designers and other actors to collaboratively create sound-driven designs.
