IDE RESEARCH THEME

Health

The state of human health is evolving. In many countries people are enjoying longer lives.

But this increase in longevity is coupled with an increase in chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease which may have gone undiagnosed in the past. Emerging digital technologies offer the potential for more responsive, personalised healthcare.

At the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (IDE), we bring a human-centered design approach to the domains of prevention, care and cure. We have a particular research interest in autonomous ageing, the patient care and the patient journey.

Healthcare is facing enormous challenges requiring a concerted effort from a wide variety of scientific disciplines. Our faculty - with its deep understanding of what people want, how organisations work and what emerging technology might offer - has a huge role to play in this.
