WISVCH 'Christiaan Huygens'

CH is the study association for students of Mathematics and Computer Science at the TU Delft. Study associations are run for and by students.

The Mathematics and Computer Science Study Association ‘Christiaan Huygens’ is dedicated to Applied Mathematics and Computer Science students at Delft University of Technology. At the moment of writing, August 2021, the association has over 2500 members. Of these, about 700 are mathematicians. We aim to support our members in three different areas. The most important area is education. W.I.S.V. ‘Christiaan Huygens’ evaluates the education and regularly discusses with the students about the quality of lectures. The association is also in close contact with the education committees of the faculty and the programme directors. Furthermore, we sell almost all textbooks for the bachelor and master courses. We ensure that the quality of education is guaranteed and we respond as quickly as possible if we identify a problem. Another area is entertainment and personal development of our members. Students do more than just study and this is why CH organises many non-study-related activities, such as company and study trips, informative lectures, lunches, programming competitions, a LAN party, drinks, theme parties and a ski trip. The third area in which we are active is bringing our students into contact with companies. The aim of the association is to give the students a better impression of the various possibilities they have after completing their studies. It is interesting for students to hear in which positions they can work within a company. In addition, this offers companies the opportunity to gain brand awareness among our students.

Committee

A committee is a group of 6 to 12 people just like you: members of this study association. Some committees consist of first year students, some second or third, and some are mixed. These groups organize all kinds of activities – by students, for students. Some things you might be in charge of as a committee member are: arranging a location, managing the budget or promoting your event. Being a committee member takes up about 1 or 2 hours per week, most of which you spend with the rest of your committee, working together.
