De grenzen van echoscopie verleggen

Natuurkundige David Maresca heeft een Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Dynamic Imaging-subsidie gekregen om een instrument voor de volgende generatie medische echoscopie te ontwikkelen. De huidige echoscopie, bij de meesten bekend als de eerste foto van een baby, kan onze anatomie en organen zichtbaar maken. Het nieuwe instrument zal veel verder kunnen inzoomen, tot op het niveau van de cellen in ons lichaam.

RADIOBLOCKS: A New European Consortium to develop Next Generation Technologies for Radio Astronomy Infrastructures

The RADIOBLOCKS project, coordinated by JIVE ERIC and including major European research infrastructures for radio astronomy, together with partners from industry and academia, have been granted 10 M€ by the European Commission to develop “common building blocks” for technological solutions beyond state-of-the-art, that will enable a broad range of new science and enhance European scientific competitiveness. The RADIOBLOCKS project will start on 1 March 2023.

The prize for the best poster at the Face2Phase conference has been awarded to Isabel Droste for the poster titled ‘Vectorial PSF model with field dependent aberrations using Nodal Aberration Theory’. The poster shows the work of Isabel Droste together with Sjoerd Stallinga and Bernd Rieger in the field of Single Molecule Localization Microscopy (SMLM).

3-in-1 microscoop wijst onderzoekers de weg naar eiwitten

Delftse natuurkundigen hebben een 3-in-1 microscoop ontwikkeld waar een lichtbundel, elektronenbundel en ionenbundel samenwerken om precies de gewenste plakjes uit biologische preparaten te snijden. Deze zijn onmisbaar voor biomoleculair onderzoek naar nieuwe generaties medicijnen. De uitvinding is op 1 december in het tijdschrift eLife gepubliceerd.

Face2Phase 3rd edition realized on November 7-9, 2022 in Delft

The conference addressed phase information in imaging with topics such as lensless imaging, phase retrieval, adaptive and active optics, ptychography, holography, tomography. We also had the honour to have 14 invited speakers from all over the world and many oral and poster presentations. The conference attracted about 100 participants from the Netherlands and from abroad.

Selina Teurlings joined ImPhys as Biolab Technician. She has a bachelor in Applied Biology and a master in Animal Sciences. Selina has worked for 2 years at the Van Woerden lab (Erasmus MC) on the role of CAMK2A in ischemia as well as the role of CAMK2 in neurodevelopment and neurodevelopmental disorders.
