Design & Construction Management

The key domain in Design & Construction Management (D&CM) is closely affiliated with Architectural Design and Building Technology and addresses questions of process control in the development and realization phases of the construction of buildings, with building process innovation as a specific area of attention. The Core Chair integrates the aspects of design management and cost/quality at the building level in the development and realization phases.

Building Process Innovation addresses among other things the need for improved cooperation between parties to the building process, and can come into play when clients require an integrated building process in which knowledge of building technology, maintenance, use and management are involved at the earliest possible stage. Contemporary social developments impel innovations in the construction process such as innovative tendering, public/private partnership, advanced risk management, risk sharing and systematic pricing.
